The Radial J48 has been designed from the beginning to offer the most natural tone. As a manufacturer of direct boxes, we do not believe it is our task to alter the sound of your precious Fender Jazz Bass, but retain and transfer the true character of the instrument to the mixer without adding distortion or false sounds. Using only the 48V phantom power, the J48 radial is an active direct box that produces an exceptionally linear response that extends from 20 Hz to above 40 kHz. Low distortion of all kinds is achieved through a single digital switching power supply that raises the internal working line voltage by adding an additional headroom and better signal control. The results are really amazing. The J48 even delivers an ideal harmonic wave and sound performance that beats any direct box above its price.

And like all radial products, the J48 is both feature-rich and made manageable stage work. This includes a -15dB input attenuator to take the high-level signals, 180º reverse polarity control for on-stage feedback, and ground isolation to help reduce buzz caused by ground loops. Special features include a fusing function that elegantly mixes left and right signals in mono without phase cancellation. To minimize resonance feedback from acoustic instruments, the J48 is also equipped with a high-pass 80 Hz filter. When activated, this also increases the dynamics and eliminates unnecessary low frequencies.

Innovative radial book-shaped design protects the switches and connectors from abuse, while the internal construction of the chassis eliminates stress on the printed circuit board. This serves to reduce welding joints and offers trouble-free performance for years. A lower anti-slip pad provides mechanical and electrical insulation which provides a solid box for any scenario.
